Everything you need to know ahead of the Black Friday shopping frenzy

Only the biggest four-day shopping event of the year, the Black Friday sales have eclipsed the Boxing Day sales year on year. And in 2024 retailers are expecting that to continue with major deals up for grabs across all categories.
Originating in the US, the Black Friday sales traditionally commenced on the Friday after Thanksgiving as a way to mark the official start of Christmas shopping. Over recent years the sale has expanded online with the Cyber Monday sale bookending the Black Friday sale.
Typically, the Black Friday sale begins on the Friday – in 2024 that’s Friday, November 29 – and wraps up the following Monday – December 2. However, smart shoppers know that bargains can be found much earlier, as brands try to outdo each other by announcing their best deals ahead of the official start (The Iconic, we see you!).
Good question! If you’re looking to get your Christmas shopping sorted early and you want to save a lot of money in the process, shopping during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale is a smart move.
You can be guaranteed a deal on everything from tech, including appliances and gaming, to beauty, fashion, homewares, kids’ toys, gardening, non-perishable pantry staples… everything!
If you’re planning to create your shopping lists ahead of the sales (smart!), it’s hard to go past major e-tailer Amazon – the one-stop-shop for almost everything you could possibly want or need – but typically most major retailers join in the fun too, like The Good Guys, Myer, David Jones, Sephora, Emma Sleep, The Iconic and Adore Beauty.
Based on last year’s best Black Friday deals this is what you could expect to see heavily discounted come November 29.
Last year Amazon kicked off the Black Friday sales with huge savings across must-have electronics, with up to 50 per cent off items like Garmin smartwatches, Lenovo devices and select HP products, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7/S7+ and Sennheiser Momentum headphones, to name a few deals.
But perhaps the most popular was the 15 per cent off Apple AirPods (2nd Gen) – typically a tough get even during sale periods.
They also slashed the prices on Amazon devices with up to 70 per cent off Kindle’s Echo Buds and Ring Home Security.
But tech wasn’t the only area to deliver insane deals for Black Friday shoppers, beauty fans scored savings on ghd tools, fragrances and premium haircare brands loved by those in the know, including Olaplex, Nioxin and Paul Mitchell. Of course, skincare and makeup topped the best deals lists last year and the prediction is they will be there again in 2024.

Finalise your summer wardrobe with impressive deals from The Iconic. While we don’t have details on deals, yet, the Aussie e-tailer has never disappointed shoppers in the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales.
